India is the largest democracy of the world. Every citizen is given certain rights. All the individuals in the country have some role to play. As the sense of responsibility and dutism spread among the youth, they began to realize the importance of their participation in country affairs. An average citizen is aged between 18-50 years. A citizen of about 18 years of age is mature enough to realize his duties towards his nation. To achieve this goal it is essential for him to equally participate and speak. Each and every citizen is now aware of the rights given to him. Nowadays the citizens are more aware.
The right to vote is guaranteed to a citizen when he or she is 18 years of age. This is to certify that he or she must choose a leader who is experienced and not aged. Average citizens are given a chance to speak everywhere whether it is about public issues or to express themselves. Mostly, the surveys conducted by NGO's and many newspapers require the opinions of individuals, the average citizens.
Even the constitution of India also requires the PM and Presidents of age 35 and above. This is because a 35 year old person is neither considered aged nor immature. This way an average citizen can be given a chance of fair play. This ensures transparency of constitution. There are many relevant instances where the citizens of the country have raised their voices. The recent rape case of a 5 year old in the capital has ignited all the delhites. All of them were on roads with candles in their hands. They were in intense anger. The citizens raised their voice. Now the citizens are aware of their duties, potential and most importantly the voice of their conscience. Not only this, the shameful incident of 16/12 also had a similar impact on the minds of people.
Earlier people were not as much aware as they are now. In the early times, they did not give much attention to such cases. But as we know the time has changed. We have come much ahead. Now the citizens are much more aware. Many factors contribute to this awareness. Firstly, the rallies and campaigns spread awareness on a large scale. Secondly, mass media and communication play a vital role in spreading awareness. Thirdly, newspapers are the most important and large means of mass communication.
Through internet also people of different countries come across and interact with each other. This way science and technology also plays a major role in creating such awareness. Due to this development, citizens speak up their problems to government and also discuss them among themselves.
Thus, we can say that an average citizen has more voice than ever before.
